Andrew completed an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham, followed by an MSc in Mathematical Biology and Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Warwick, and an MSc in Neurosensory Sciences (Audiology) at Aston University.
Since joining St Thomas’ NHS Hearing Implant Centre, London, in 2018, Andrew has established himself as a leading clinician and researcher in the field of hearing implants. In 2022, he was appointed Principal Clinical Scientist and Joint Co-ordinator for the Adult Hearing Implant Team. He also serves as Principal Clinical Researcher for the Hearing Implant and Adult Audiology Services at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Andrew is actively involved in shaping national audiology practice through his role on the Steering Committee of the British Society of Audiology Bone Conduction and Middle Ear Devices Special Interest Group. His principal research interest is the optimisation of cochlear implant outcomes, with a focus on improving patient benefit and advancing clinical practice.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is currently the Chief Investigator on a number of active research studies. His work contributes to the development of evidence-based approaches in hearing implantation.
As an experienced clinician, Andrew undertakes the full range of objective and diagnostic assessments required to determine the most appropriate hearing implant solution for an individual’s needs. He is experienced in the programming and optimisation of all types of hearing implants Bone-Conduction Implants, Middle Ear Implants and Cochlear Implants from all major manufacturers, enabling him to provide comprehensive and personalised care throughout the patient journey.

Sandra has over three decades of specialist experience supporting children, adults, and families affected by hearing loss.
Sandra completed a BSc (Hons) in Speech Pathology and Therapy at the University of Manchester. She subsequently specialised in deafness and hearing rehabilitation, achieving an MSc in Human Communication from City University London with an Advanced Clinical Skills Diploma. She has additional counselling experience and holds British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 certification.
Sandra has worked at St Thomas' NHS Hearing Implant Centre, London, since 2000 and is currently the Principal Rehabilitationist and Joint Co-ordinator of the Adult Hearing Implant Team. Sandra works clinically across both the adult and paediatric hearing implant services, providing specialist rehabilitation, Listening and communication support throughout the patient journey.
Sandra has contributed to the development of national standards and policy within the field of hearing implants including revision of the British Cochlear Implant Group (BCIG) Quality Standards (2023) and developing the Commissioning Guidelines for Paediatric Auditory Brainstem Implants.
Sandra has authored and co-authored several published articles. She has been a colloborator and PI for an NIHR multicentre-funded study.
Sandra helped develop specialist listening and music rehabilitation resources designed to optimise outcomes following implantation. Many of these resources are used internationally.
Sandra supports children, adults, and their families to better understand the impact of hearing loss on their communication, participation, and quality of life. She helps individuals make informed decisions about the device that best meets their needs and lifestyle.
Sandra adopts a flexible, patient-centred approach to rehabilitation. Rehabilitation programmes are tailored to individual needs and may be delivered through a combination of face-to-face and/ or virtual appointments, with the frequency and intensity of support adapted to maximise each person's progress and long-term outcomes.

Anel achieved a BSc (Hons) in Communication Pathology, specialising in Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy, from the University of Pretoria. She began her career in the cochlear implant field in 2007, developing a strong foundation in advanced auditory rehabilitation and hearing implant services.
In 2008, Anel joined The Portland Hospital, where she worked in diagnostic audiology until 2010, conducting comprehensive hearing and balance assessments for both adult and paediatric patients. From 2010 to 2017, she was a key member of the hospital’s Auditory Implant Programme, serving as Clinical Coordinator and playing a central role in the delivery and coordination of high-quality, patient-centred care.

Alongside her clinical responsibilities, Anel is actively involved in clinical research contributing to the advancement of evidence-based practice in hearing implantation.
Anel supervises students and supports the training of future audiology professionals, helping to develop the next generation of clinicians in the field of hearing healthcare.
With nearly twenty years of experience in hearing implant services, Anel is recognised for her collaborative and compassionate approach. She is dedicated to supporting individuals and their families throughout the entire hearing implant journey, from initial assessment and candidacy evaluation through surgery, device programming, and long-term rehabilitation. Her focus is on ensuring that each patient receives personalised care and support to maximise communication outcomes, participation, and quality of life.
